  1. I just posted this comment over in Gene Veith's combox in response to someone who said: "The American Cancer Society? Scam artists. No longer looking for a cure for cancer. I'm dropping AT&T later this year and closing my account at BofA in a month."

    1. There's no such thing as a single cure for cancer because cancer isn't a single disease. The closest we could realistically get (to the best of our knowledge) is probably something like multiple cures for multiple cancers. For example, chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a cancer that used to be nearly 100% fatal but is today nearly 100% curable thanks to a wonder pill. Also, for instance, check out this informative cartoon.

    2. If someone wants to donate to a big cancer institute or similar, then the best cancer research centers in the world are probably MD Anderson, Dana Farber, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. But don't fool yourself that these places aren't politically and socially secular to significant degrees. For example, even if it's not elective abortions (doubtful), then it's same-sex marriage, etc. If it were me, I'd prefer to donate to conservative Christian organizations, churches, apologists like Scott Klusendorf, etc. who in turn can hopefully help raise up Christian physicians and convert secular physicians to become Christians who can help fight against immorality and for morality. Not to mention all of us should to one degree or another encourage biblical ethical values among the people God has put into our lives, whether Christian or non-Christian. Something along those lines anyway.
