Moo on Galatians

Doug Moo's forthcoming commentary on Galatians in now available for preorder. We already have Schreiner's recent, magnificent commentary. Moo's should be another magisterial contribution. And it ought to provide an exegetically astute, up-to-date defense of sola fide.

  1. Moo's commentaries are a must-have for theology nerds. One thing that I thought was interesting was that, for a Lutheran, his commentary on Romans reads in many places like something a calvinist would write.

  2. I'm pretty sure that Moo is not a Lutheran. He describes his law-gospel position as "modified Lutheran," but that probably has more to do with his engagement with the NPP's disparagement of the so-called "Lutheran" reading of Paul.

As far as I know, Moo is a self-described Calvinist and evangelical, in the free church tradition. I don't know if he is part of a denomination or not.
