Apollo 8: first humans travel to the moon

Everyone remembers the first men to walk on the moon. These were the first men to travel to the moon; the first to leave earth orbit. I love how the astronauts give credit where credit is due.

  1. Yep, a great accomplishment. I, along with a few other people, watched it happening, and I'll never forget it. Thanks for posting that, John.

  2. I remember watching it. I was eight, almost nine years old. My father was very excited about the whole moon program. Our whole family was up in the middle of the night watching the first walk on the moon, on our old b/w TV.

  3. I'm going to pull age on you, John, if you don't mind (I don't think you will), and go back to 1957, when my father took me and my brother on the roof of our house to see Sputnik going by. Hard to imagine, nowadays, the excitement caused by a point of light that moved against the stellar background. What an amazing universe we live in.
