Sam Harris on Breivik

  1. "Human evil"..."depravity"...what are those things, Sam; and how can your worldview account for such concepts?

Who are you to say that detonating, shooting, and generally maiming hundreds of people is "evil" and by what measure or standard do you arrive at such a conclusion?

Don't get me wrong, I think the conclusions reached are morally and ethically sound and accurate because as a born-again Christian I can (by the grace of God) account for why I think Breivik is depraved and evil, and why he did what he did (generally), and why there's actual evil in the world.

Sammy can blow hot air on this topic, and maybe even whip up some emotions, but from within his own worldview he has no grounds to call anyone or anything "evil" or "depraved"; things are simply working out as blindly programmed evolutionary products run out their peculiar genetically embedded software packages.

Survival of the fittest. Luck of the draw. Live and let die.

It's only by the grace of the very One true and living Creator God that they reject that all anti-theists aren't pure nihilists; and it comes as little surprise worldviews like that produce men like Breivik.

    In Christ,
